Museo Canario

Museo Canario - tourist panflet
The Canary Islands Museum is a scientific and cultural institution founded in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1879 by a small number of citizens from the local bourgeoisie. The outstanding figure among this small group of social and cultural personalities of the time was Mr Gregorio Chil y Naranjo, a doctor educated abroad who had a taste for historical and anthropological studies.

The group's intention, as expressed in the constituent statutes, was to "set up a museum where objects belonging to the natural sciences, archaeology and the arts will be collected and exhibited in their corresponding sections; and a Library where to collect and preserve all the old and modern works of literature; in both cases paying special attention to matters related to the province and, above all, to this island of Gran Canaria".

Sioux City at the Gran Canaria

Teepes from the Sioux City at Gran Canaria

This is a recreation of the Wild West, with gunfights, Wild West barbecue, saloon gals, sheriff can can, and country & western music.

This is the biggest attraction both for big and small… Meet mythical warriors like White Herb and cowboys such as Doc Holiday. You will really feel as though you are in the legendary West!

Ride back into the days of the "roaring West" and find yourself in the middle of a bank hold up or a sudden shootout between cold-blooded cowpokes and the lawman of Six Gun.
Some of the attractions are 'duel until death', 'bank robbery', 'saloon fight', rodeo, 'town square hanging', 'Indian rain dance', Mexican lasso experts and doing acrobatics with whips and knives, among many others.
